The first national coordination meeting of DB YaR Forum’s Child Friendly Cities Initiative concluded on 03 August, 2018 at Don Bosco House, Delhi, with Ms Enakshi Ganguli of HAQ Centre for Child Rights calling on Child Friendly Cities Initiative’s team members and directors fromChandigarh, Salem, Rajahmundry and Vadodara to focus on that which matters – the ground realities of children’s rights in their respective cities.
Ms Kanak Tiwari and her team from Child Friendly Smart Cities (CFSC-NIUA), Mr Lolichen PJ of UNICEF and their “Safe City for Children – Bhopal”, Kumar Shailabh from HAQ Centre for Child Rights shared their insights and experiences with the participants on 02 August, day two of the programme. Other highlights of the programme were a panel discussion on Advocacy and Networking with U Santanam, Director DBAI, Salem, Thomas Pallithanam, National Convenor WNTA and representative of Don Bosco worldwide in the UN,
Ms Dolcy Simon, independent consultant and trainer, CSR and Organisational Development, Vadodara on the panel and Thomas Koshy, Director DB YaR Forum as the moderator, and a shared learning session on “Caring Communities and Child Safety Nets” led by teams from Rajahmundry and Salem.
1 August, the first day of the programme was devoted mainly to understanding the priority issues and concerns as well as resources in the four cities where the initiative is in progress, the goals and targets for the first 3-year phase and the key strategies adopted by the implementing teams and civil society partners in making their cities more child friendly.
Including partners and collaborators, 35 persons participated in the 3-days’ programme.More
