Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Coimbatore celebrated Children’s Day Celebration on 18th and 19th November 2017 in collaboration with Rythem Social Service Society and Thalir Social Service center at Mariapuram, Tiruppur to promote welfare of children and to celebrate their childhood. Every Year Children’s Day was Celebrated within the organization. This year it was decided to celebrate the day with the Children of Mariapuram village, on the Theme “Value our Child Rights and Save Nature ”.

On 18/11/2017 The celebration started with an Inaugural Function, Mr. Jayakumar, Village head was invited as chief guest. He lit the ceremonial lamp and inaugurated the event. Each organization presented their performance on the theme Child Rights and Conservation of Nature through folk dance, skit, Awareness Songs. There was a talk by children on Child rights and Plastic disadvantages. Children were provided dinner.

On 19/11/2017, the second day of the celebration started with an inaugural ceremony. Fr. Pelavendran, the parish priest of St. Mary’s Church was invited as chief guest and was honoured. After lighting of the lamp, sports events started. Children participated acitviely in all sports events. there were group and individual games organized for the children. Children of Mariapuram village also participated and won many games. Children enjoyed the games with zeal and enthusiazm.

After the completion of Sports event, there was a rally on child rights and conservation of Nature. The Rally was flagged off by Mr. Sekar, Sub Inspector – Perumanallur. It was a Rally along with Clean up drive on the theme ‘Value our rights and Save Nature’ to create awareness to the people of the village on waste management and hygiene.

The day was dedicated to children to enjoy their Childhood happiness and also provide an opportunity to exhibit their talents through games and cultural programmes. 203 children participated in the event and 43 staff were present to make their day bright and beautiful.
